moonrise

I've been trying to photograph the moon rising out of the sea for a good number of years now and finally this is it. These were taken the night after the full moon and as you can see the moon rises out of a considerable amount of atmosphere and haze. Actually the first photo is a little deceptive because to the naked eye the moon was so faint as to be almost invisible and this photo was taken with an exposure of two and a half seconds, so if you didn't know that the moon was rising at that particular moment you wouldn't see it until it was a good way above the horizon. I did take some of the full moon rising the night before, but due to technical difficulties (I didn't get there in time) I haven't got the actual moment of its rising. I did however get these instead, which I'm quite happy with.
